Paramita Bhunia and Binapani DE

Quasi-experimental research was conducted to assess the effect of awareness program on Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) among primary school teachers in terms of knowledge in selected primary schools of Bankura, West Bengal. The study objective was to assess the knowledge of primary school teachers regarding ADHD before and after administration of awareness program, to evaluate the effect of awareness program on ADHD and to find out association between pre-test knowledge score of primary school teachers and selected demographic variables. The conceptual framework was based on karl Ludwig Von berterlanfy General system model. 60 primary school teachers were selected by non- probability convenience sampling method. Content on Attention deficit hyperactive disorder among children was developed and validated by experts. Data were collected by using semi- structured demographic proforma and structured knowledge questionnaire. Study findings revealed that awareness program regarding ADHD was effective in increasing knowledge as evident from the paired ‘t’ value between pre-test and post-test knowledge score in experimental group (t=13.31, p<0.05) and independent ‘t’ value between post-test knowledge score of experimental and control group, post-test knowledge score of experimental and control group (t=15.84, p<0.05). There was significant association with teaching experience, educational qualification and previous knowledge at 0.05 level of significance. The study was limited to generalize beyond the present study population. So, the random sampling technique can be effective for generalization of the study.
